10 Wonderful People With Down Syndrome

People with Down syndrome are just as diverse as any human being, but one thing is for sure: if they receive the right attention, help, and support, also babies with Down syndrome can achieve almost anything. Just like their healthy counterparts.

Model: Ellie Goldstein

Ellie Goldstein is 18 years old and became famous for being the first model with Down syndrome. She was hired by Gucci along with four other models, Jahmal Baptiste, Enam, Kadro Vahersalu and Ruoyi Yi.
“I haven’t had any bad experiences having Down’s syndrome. I think it’s because of my personality. The only challenge I have faced was maybe people signing to me and talking to my mum instead of me, until realising that I can communicate and that I am just like them, maybe just slower at learning some things.”
There needs to be more positivity out there and people should give us a chance and not be so ignorant.”

The mountaineer: Eli Reimer

Eli Reimer is the first teenager with Down Syndrome who reached Mount Everest’s base camp at 5,400 kilometers after a ten-day hike. He’d been training for a year with his fater, who wanted to prove his son has not only the physique but the concentration ability for this challenging task. Since returning, Eli’s been a star in the local high school, and in addition, has collected nearly $ 100,000 donation for a disability advocacy foundation.

You need to learn the name Sofía Jirau, because she’s about to become a big-time model. She has over 60,000 followers on Instagram and counting, and she’s making a major splash in the fashion world.

Student: Megan McCormick

Megan McCormick is the first person with Down syndrome who graduates with honors. She is currently studying at university – if she’ll graduates she  wants to teach children with special needs to prove them that nothing is impossible. She’s her parents sixth child, and according to them, there is no trick here, they have always expected the same from their all children.  “We never looked at the limits, but at all the things she could do. And if she didn’t know something, we worked out the solution together. We were in just a little despair in the hospital, but then the midwife came to us and said,’Why are you so nervous? You already have a child, right? Then you know how to raise them. ”And she was right. Raising a kid with down syndrome was just like all the others. It’s just even more wonderful. ”

The Mayor: Darragh McKenna

Darragh McKenna became the mayor of Borrisokane, Ireland. During the election campaign, all five candidates had the task to raise money for the renovation of the town’s playground and small forest. The five candidates raised a total of £45,000 – of which Darragh personally raised £22,500. He organized many charity shows and personally visited his voters. No wonder everyone trusted him, as the majority knew him already, because the 31-year-old Darragh has operated a good pub in the city for years, and earned seven gold medals at the Paralympic Games. That’s why it’s easy to believe: he can do anything.

The protagonist: Stephane Ginnsz

Stephane Ginnsz starred in the Duo movie at the age of 12 in 1995. The movie is about a boy who falls in love with a violinist girl of his age and wants to perform a duet with him. Although children and adults with Down syndrome have previously appeared in various films, this is the first play in which the protagonist himself has down syndrome. There is some family background in the movie, as it was written and directed by Ginns’ brother, who knows all aspects of this genetic disorder. The movie won numerous awards and started the careers of both brothers. Stephane is now 31 years old, has graduated from high school since the movie, played roles in several movies, commercials and plays ever since.
